My First Music Video

                             Making of The Song. 'Pigmandu'

The song clearly states that it relate pollution. Actually the concept of the song was first meant to tease the people around, to stop them from polluting environment. And this song was first composed six years ago.

During those days Kathmandu was really crossing its limits regarding pollution. But some organizations and government seemed to be curious and were making promises on bringing a big change.

Years passed and there were times I thought that, now they might get the job done. But nothing happened. Recently it came to my notice that Kathmandu has been ranked on the top three position among the world's most polluted city. I felt like I must now work upon it. So recorded this video.

Problems I faced while making this song.

I really have gone through hell when I just started of making ideas of how to get my job done. People around started teasing me that I was insulting my mother land. Some said that I'm a useless dreamer. As a whole almost all people said its not a good idea. Very few supported and encouraged me. Some people were there who said that it was the worst song that they had ever heard. Despite of what people said I kept focusing on my work. Finally I got a recording studio. And I got everything arranged. When the song was out people who heard were shocked with the song, but the response they made was still the same. They kept forcing me from doing the job.

I was out of job for a year and all my money was spent. Yet, I didn't quit. I had now a video to make. I asked for a loan from my friends. And everyone denied. But one friend said he liked my concept and was ready to help me. But he had very little amount of money. Well it could be a good start, I said and I began my work. The video maker himself was not interested in my video. He just claimed for the money and told me to shoot the video myself. Unfortunately my camera was not working. I took it to repair but the elements necessary were not found in Nepal nor in India.

Helpless, yet I didn't quit, I asked help from my students and my friends. But all I got was disappointed. They just asked for time and each and everyone of them wasted mine. Not a single one stood to help me. I now started feeling like I'm broken. But I didn't quit.

I started taking pictures and videos from my mobile, also some foreigners who visited Nepal helped me by providing their video. Finally with lots of hardships I got my video complete.

Lets see what results I get. I just want people to come together and clean this man made pollution.

Project Pigmandu

                                Pigmandu by devilmaitraiya

                                PIGMANDU

Our country Nepal is known throughout the world for its beauty but we Nepalese are destroying it. Project Pigmandu is all about making people aware and bringing them together to clean the man made pollution.

Who doesn't want to have a clean, green, well managed city? well we Nepali too dream of it. Our country is loved and hand crafted himself by the almighty god, she is blessed by mother nature. But we, we are reason for the pollution created? We are the one destroying her beauty and making her ugly. Today she being our motherland is being insulted all over the world and yet no body seems to care.

From rivers to temples, roads to mountains we have polluted each and everything, still we don't forget or hesitate to chant I love Nepal, Feel proud to be Nepali, The most beautiful country in the world bla bla bla. It seems like a person igniting earthen lamp and shouting we never have electricity cuts in our home.

Its not true that the people are uneducated, whoever says so in context to Nepal either he/she is drunk or maybe smoked. Cause education about cleanliness is taught straight form their own house, even the religion they follow either Hindu, Buddhist or whatever, they all teach the same. Not a single home or religion support pollution. But whats wrong then?

People of Nepal have all turn out selfish, the blood from our ansistors of never letting the head held down of the country has turned out pale when it flows in us. We all now live for ourselves, work for money, and yes! wish for pleasures of our own body. Nobody cares about nobody all are busy living for themselves. People don't want to do work which has no benefit. So they all feel that cleaning is the responsibility of the government. Its government who should be responsible for all this. But is it? Is the government doing their work properly in Nepal, any work, except corruption, revolution, strikes and protest?

Knowing everything the citizens turn out the deaf ear to all this. Its easy for all to blame. So they keep blaming. Well project Pigmandu is all about it. Of uniting people  and bringing them  together to clean the country. To work as the helping hands for those organizations who are still trying but unable for achieving the grand success

So get yourself ready cause Project Pigmandu is coming soon..........

sarsafai clean

'Clean up Nepal' was set up through the visionary leadership of Dr Neelam Pradhananga. The idea behind Clean up Nepal 2013 began in 2011 when Dr Neelam Pradhananga saw first-hand the positive impact community mobilization can have on the improvement of surroundings in Sydney during the Clean up Australia campaigns. Reflecting on the rubbish accumulated along the sides of the road on her bus trips from Bhaktapur to Kathmandu, and realizing the need for a program like Clean up Australia in Nepal, she began to research clean-up activities in Nepal. This led to her discovery that many organisations were already undertaking one-off cleanup activities.

Neelam realized that what was needed was an ongoing cleanup movement to bring about behavioral change – a positive movement that embraced and provided a common platform for individuals, communities, and organisations working in the environmental sector to undertake programs and events that could help to clean up areas and break the cycle of never-ending rubbish accumulation. Neelam began to explore organisations working in Nepal and started to write to many of them about the possibility of working together. One of these organisations was The Small Earth Nepal. With the help of like-minded friends in Nepal and Australia, Small Earth Australia (independent of The Small Earth Nepal), an organisation set up to promote cross-border partnerships between Nepal and Australia, was incorporated in New South Wales under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 in July 2012.

Clean up Nepal first began working in Nepal in January 2013. Keep Itahari Clean was Clean up Nepal’s first local partner. They commenced with weekly cleanup activities in 2013 and have maintained continuity to this. In the process, they have won the hearts of the community in Itahari and other stakeholders. The first nationwide cleanup event was organised by Small Earth Australia and The Small Earth Nepal on 21 September 2013. It was the largest cleanup movement to-date in Nepal facilitated by Clean up Nepal and organised by 12 National Partners and 120 Local Partners. 15 430 volunteers took part at 45 locations in 20 cities and collected 84, 564.5 kilos of waste on the day. In 2014, Clean up Nepal has concentrated its efforts on strengthening its team in Nepal and globally. Clean up Nepal has also registered as a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation in Nepal with chapters in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Pokhara and Chitwan, and affiliates in Australia, USA and Canada.

Nijgadh dusty roads

Watch video yourself, the video speaks a lot about this place. Nijgadh is a municipality in Nepal. And this video is of East west Highway of Nepal. You can imagine if Highway is in this stage what about other roads

Nijgadh  is a town and municipality in Bara District in the Narayani Zone of south-eastern Nepal. The existing Nijgadh village was merged with the existing Ratnapuri VDC and Bharatganj Singaul VDC in May 2014.

At the time of the 2011 Nepal Census, Nijgadh had a population of 19,614 persons (9,525 male and 10,089 female) living in 3,982 individual households.

The town has been targeted as a site for an international airport that could handle 15 million passengers and even accommodate the super-jumbo Airbus A380 after the first phase of construction. As of April 2011, a feasibility study of the report was completed. The report stated that the airport would cover 3,000 hectares of land: 2,000 hectares for airport and the remaining 1,000 for the airport city.

Birtamode, one of the most polluted city in Nepal.

Birtamode and its pollution

Like most of the other towns and cities of Nepal, Birtamode is also a name of great honor in terms of pollution. Well it is so said that the most intelligent persons of the country are born here. It is among the leading cities of Nepal in terms of Education. People here are highly educated, it is what one can hear, here in Nepal. Well the pictures posted will soon prove it all.

This is the picture of the most famous "Adwa river  bridge", it lies in East West Highway of Nepal. "Adwa" means ginger in English, since the river is ginger shaped it is named as "Adwa" river. That's what a local described it as. The local added that the water of this river was used for drinking, swimming and of course fishing many years back. He too said that the fishes found in this river were really big and the water was very clean but now everything has changed, it may be the most polluted river in Eastern Nepal right now.

This river is sometimes called "Adwa Mai".'Mai' means mother. Specially during Chaath festival, ( festival celebrated to please sun god) people go to the river nearby with full devotion, respect , joy
and perform different rituals and make offering to river mother as well as sun. On that special occasion river is cleaned because people take bath and stay in river while performing "puja' or prayers. Hindu's actually regard river as mother because during old days rivers were the only source of water for drinking, specially in the plain regions. Thus the Hindu saints or teachers, during scientific research of those time, found that life is impossible without water, water flows in eyes, mouth, it is even found in blood and milk.So in short, cause the reasons are many, and this blog is about pollution and not about why rivers are regarded as Mother in Hindu religion. Thus in short, they taught and made people of those time believe and see river as a form of mother.

Well it was all during those days that these rivers were really respected and treated like mother , though the people were uneducated. But today in the age of science, everyone know the importance of water and river but those who have the knowledge, who are termed as educated, act as if they are fools. Nope! they are not fools and its not lack of education either, but the people have turned selfish. They live only for themselves, they even don't care about the future generations. The only thing they know is to blame, and blaming others is very easy. So they keep blaming government for all this, and of course they blame each others too. Non of them think it is their own fault, they feel as if they are superior, the one who is pure and a true lover of the country. Well almost everyone has turned out selfish or self centered. That's the reason why the river becomes mother for a day or two cause they believe that offering and praying during these days would make their wishes come true and the remaining days of the year, the river is just another pipeline for drainage, a big one of course.

River is not the only place that is polluted here but every nooks and corners are the same. People here are so educated that they feel shy to carry the left over and wrappers, to dispose in proper place, they rather throw it wherever they want to. For example, while walking on the street if someone happens to eat a chocolate, he doesn't search for a dustbin or a proper place for the wrapper to be kept, he simply throws it, where he wants to. The left over and garbage from house is collected in plastic bags and thrown down in the streets or behind the wall or any empty place, where ever they please.

The government of course is very, very serious about this matter, they really care so much about it,  you can see the hard work done by them, all around in these pictures. And locals, they really feel proud to be a part of this town. Cause this land never complain about how ugly she has turned out in recent years. She has no objection on how the locals treat her. Because she is a part of them, if a person makes mistake or commits crime she too is blamed along him/her. Like that man or women of Birtamode.

Thus when she belongs to them, they too belong to her. When Birtamode is praised, they all feel happy as if they are praised. When she gets insulted as one of the most polluted city in Nepal, they too get insulted along her. Because they are the reason for all this pollution, and only they can correct their mistake. If they really feel proud to be a part of her, they should first, make her feel proud  to be a part of them. Or else pigs can dream of heaven as much as it wants to, but in reality, the doors of heaven is always closed for pigs. It is they with choices to make, pigs or humans????

Raxual india

Indian town, Raxual, is a bordering city to Nepal. Garbage are thrown at road side and animals and birds like pigs, cows and crows feed on them. The Government of India has been trying a lot to reduce pollution and make people aware but it seems as if they have a long long way to go.

Raxaul is a sub-divisional town in the East Champaran district of the Indian state of Bihar. It is situated on the India-Nepal border opposite Birgunj (Nepal), and is an entry point in Nepal by road and rail. Raxaul is a major railway terminus.

The Indian border town of Raxaul has become one of the busiest towns for heavy transportation due to high trade volume. Almost 56% of the total products of Birgunj are exported to the Indian state of Bihar through this route.

Raxaul is the only city that connected with Nepal. Birgunj railway station was connected by the Nepal Government Railway (NGR) to Raxaul station in Bihar across the border with India. The 47 km (29 mi) railway extended north to Amlekhganj in Nepal. It was built in 1927 by the British but discontinued beyond Birgunj in December 1965. The 6 km (3.7 mi) railway track from Raxaul to Birgunj was converted to broad gauge two years after the Indian railways converted the track to Raxaul inside India to broad gauge. Now, broad gauge railway line connects Raxaul to the Sirsiya (Birgunj) Inland Container Depot (ICD) that became fully operational in 2005. Talks have been held to reopen the railway route from Birgunj to Amlekhganj in Nepal by converting it to broad gauge because of its socio-economic importance.

Thanking pigs on behalf of the government,Nepal

Pigs are really doing a great job by feeding on these garbage and reducing them. On other hand Government is just piling up the garbage far from villages and cities. Piling garbage far won't reduce the risk created by such wastage, thanks to pigs they are indirectly helping locals nearby.

Pollution hoarding boards, Nepal

The hoarding board warns the public, if anyone is seen throwing garbage here he/she will be severely punished by the law or fined NRS1500 to NRS15000. Well the video states that people fear a lot.

This is the video shooted in Jorpati of kathmandu. Jorpati is a very large village in Kathmandu District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the 2011 census it had a population of 84,567 making it one of the largest villages in the world. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 10,796 and had 1988 households in it.

In the year 2016 Jorpati has became Municipality from VDC with the population of more than 500,000. Jorpati is the gateway for Sundarijaal and Sakhu.

Nijgadh garbage dumping site

Garbage collected from Nijgadh municipality is dumped near the forest. Usually it is burnt after few days collection. The video of pigs feeding on it shows how generous the governmental officers are, they really love animals like pigs.

Intelligent officals of Nepal, pollution

                    Burning the collected garbage

It is a very easy work to be done, collect and burn.

These days governmental officers find difficulties when asked how will they manage the garbage all around their concerned area. They with their chest pumped up and head held high, talk a lot about how they are going to recycle and reuse the garbage collected. They even say that Nepal being second richest country in water resources is facing electricity scarcity, and the main reason is because the country is economically poor. So they have come up with a new project of generating electricity from the garbage collected.

Next day these are the interviews shown on the television channel, and newspaper of how and where they are going to set up their new project. Innocent citizens feel that a great change is on its way, they can now have electricity, manure for their fields, cheap products made from recycled and reuse able garbage collected. And thus the government separates budgets of certain amount for it.

Days get passed and so gets months and years. The project on papers get covered by dirt and dust. The budget gets spend, but no one knows where. Government fall and rise and rise and fall and so on. The officers appointed for the project blame the government for not being stable. The citizens swing like pendulum on the clock. Some say this party is good some says that party is good. But no one cares about where the garbage is going, what do they do with it.

The garbage collected is dumped far away from villages or burnt. some get washed away with flood cause they are dumped near rivers and so on.
This Video is shooted in Nijgadh. Nijgadh is a town and municipality in Bara District in the Narayani Zone of south-eastern Nepal. The existing Nijgadh village was merged with the existing Ratnapuri VDC and Bharatganj Singaul VDC in May 2014.

Rivers polluted, Nepal

                           Rivers polluted in Nepal

Mother nature has bestowed her blessings upon this landlocked country by providing her with unlimited natural resources. Nepal although appears to be a small country in the world map, it is the second richest country in water resources on the entire world. Rivers, rivulates, streams,water-falls, brooks, lakes, ponds and small springs. Among them, rivers are the most important water resources in Nepal.

The major rivers in Nepal are Mechi, Koshi, Bagmati, Narayani, Gandaki, Kanali and Mahakali. Among them,  Koshi is the largest,  Narayani is the deepest and Karnali is the longest rivers in Nepal. The major lakes are Mahendra lake, Phewa lake,Rara lake and lots more. Similarly there are innumerable brooks, streams and springs. But...

Being the second richest country in the world, in water resources, it is a great shame to say Nepal still suffers pure drinking water problems and also electricity scarcity.  No wonder it is government to be blamed but is it not the responsibility of a responsible citizen to do something about it? People living in Nepal are habituated of talking how developed other countries are and how least developed Nepal is. They must wake up now or else there will be no waking up.

In the name of pollution Nepal begs for donations from donar countries and from the Nepalese living abroad. But its seems as if a man himself sits on ground to respond to nature's call( toilet) and after its done he cleans his body but waits for other to come and clean the rest. He keeps blaming the government when he finds his waste still on the ground and once he pass he forgets, back to his useless life, earn and enjoy. Isn't it the responsibility of every citizen to think about what should be done? Forget the act no one even to have time to think or discuss. Just blame and its over.

The government now has started to work on pollution, they have felt their responsibility toward the society. Thus they have arranged some vehicles to load the garbage from the road side and various places and dump it directly into the rivers or burn it all including plastics and left over foods in a distant place.

Most of the people in Nepal follow Hindu religion. Which means a belief where god lives in all living and non living. Treat all the way, you want them to treat you. Hindus thus believe there are many gods in existence, sun god, rain god, wind god, water god, animal and plants, humans and many many more. River are treated as Goddess Ganga, and is often worshiped in various occasions. Feels as if Nepal must have the purest water resources on earth but unfortunately its not. People do worship rivers but only for a day or two, during special occasions and remaining days of the year it is just another pipe line of toilet but a big one.

What is really lacking in people, Knowledge? No, knowledge is not the reason, cause rivers get polluted when rivers reach town and cities, which means abundance of schools and colleges. More over religion too teach water resources should be kept clean. So what is the main problem. The main problem is selfishness, ego, greed and so on. So until and unless these things are removed from human heart nothing can happen. Or else government should feel the responsibility and come out with great solution.

Birgunj dusty roads

                         Birgunj, Nepal, Dusty Roads

Its not amazing to see that Birgunj is one of the most polluted cities of Nepal. People keep complaining but government turn a deaf ear to all these complains. Politicians, a lots of them, use the innocent people living in Birgunj to make the government  get down on their knees andfulfill the so called demand of public welfare made by those politicians. Many of such citizens have lost their lives but nothing has changed in Birgunj instead the economic status of such politicians have changed a lot from ground level to the most top.People need to wake up, only then when they realize that they are the creator, sustainer and destroyer of government, great changes of development will be seen or else.......

Birgunj is a metropolitan city and border town in Parsa District in the Narayani Zone of southern Nepal. It lies 183 km (114 mi) south of the capital Kathmandu, attached to north of the border of the Indian state of Bihar. As an entry point to Nepal from Patna and Kolkata, it is known as the "gateway to Nepal". The town has significant economic importance for Nepal as most of its trade with India is via Birgunj and the Indian town of Raxaul.

Pollution mask, Kathmandu

                                                               Pollution Mask

Capital of Nepal, the only metropolitan city Kathmandu is also the headquarter of SAARC. With the population of 975,453+, including the most intelligent and economically rich citizens of the country it has been ranked as the third most polluted city in the world.

Kathmandu is the gateway to tourism in Nepal. It is also the hub of the COUNTRY'S ECONOMY. It has the most advanced infrastructure of any urban area in Nepal, and its economy is focused on tourism, which accounted for 3.8% of Nepal's GDP in 1995/96. Tourism in Kathmandu declined thereafter during a period of political unrest, but since then it has improved a lot. In 2013, Kathmandu was ranked third among the top 10 travel destinations on the rise in the world, and ranked first in Asia. And now it has been ranked as one of the most polluted cities in the world.

The city of Kathmandu is named after Kasthamandap temple, that stood in Durbar square. In Sanskrit, kastha means "wood" and Mandap means "covered shelter". Many people often described it as ' The city of woods". However in recent times wooden houses has been undertaken by concrete buildings and of course garbage all around. Well  it wont be wrong to say, it is on its way to be named as "The city of pollution". During medieval times, the city was sometimes called  Kantipur. This name is derived from two Sanskrit words - kanti and pur. "Kanti" is one of the names of the Goddess Laxmi, ( goddess of wealth) and "pur" means place.  The place where goddess Laxmi dwells. But a very popular saying in Hindu says that goddess Laxmi loves and dwells in clean place, she hates dirt and pollution. This can be assumed as a reason why Nepal cannot rise economically since it is still unable to utilize its resources including the garbage.

Sometimes we don't need words cause the pictures speak itself. Yes of course we need to explain a little bit cause most of them understand in different way. These pics show how caring and health conscious people of Kathmandu are. Not all of them but some. Cause most of them are so called habituated of what they smell every single day.

These health conscious people are definitely intelligent being who knows how to wear pollution mask, to protect themselves from pollution but do they really know how to get rid of the problem created by pollution?  do they know how dangerous pollution can be? Do they even know what pollution is?

If they knew all these, trust me there would be no pollution in Kathmandu, and Kathmandu would never be ranked as world's third most polluted city. It is them who made the city polluted and it is them who can and must clean and make the city pollution free. God is busy in heaven lets not disturb him or her. It's they including all Nepalese who needs to take the responsibility.

street of kathmandu

The place where tourist first arrive. The place where the heads of the country live. The capital, the heart of the country,  KATHMANDU. Well the video needs no explanation cause its shows how rich, country loving and respecting, people and government of Nepal really is......

       KATHMANDU

Capital of Nepal, the only metropolitan city Kathmandu is also the headquarter of SAARC. With the population of 975,453+, including the most intelligent and economically rich citizens of the country it has been ranked as the third most polluted city in the world.

But a very popular saying in Hindu says that goddess Laxmi loves and dwells in clean place, she hates dirt and pollution. This can be assumed as a reason why Nepal cannot rise economically since it is still unable to utilize its resources including the garbage.

Kathmandu is rich in 5 types of pollution, Air, Land,Noise, Water and Visual pollution.

What makes the air polluted in Kathmandu? The first and foremost reason is its location. The city resides in a bowl-shaped valley, and this greatly enhances the likelihood of air pollution problems. The valley's unique shape prevents the escape of industrial and vehicle fumes. In recent decades, the air pollution in Kathmandu has worsened, due to the rapid rise in the number of inferior quality vehicles on the traffic congested roads, as well as the unregulated location of industries, particularly brick manufacturing and of course the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, gas, plastic products like plastic bags in addition to it harmful off-gasing from things such as paint and so on.

Litter found on the side of the road and illegal dumping in natural habitats are the main reason for land pollution in Kathmandu. And the loud sound produced by the vehicles, speakers during festivals, marriage parties and etc are main cause for noise pollution in Kathmandu.

For the people of the Kathmandu valley clean river water is only a myth. Today the rivers can only be said to be clean at their source and river pollution has become a major problem in the valley. The major rivers of the valley like Bagmati, Bishnumati, and Tukucha are no longer the important natural resources that they once were. This is because of the lack of management of the drainage system of houses and local industries at a time of increasing urbanization. Even the outlets of hospitals flow directly into the rivers. However some governmental as well as some NGOs with the help of citizens are working on it but even though its a long long way to go.

Advertisements, advertisements, advertisements everybody want to earn more and more, everyone wants to be known that's why you see advertisement on walls, electric poles, everywhere on street. It has also become a medium to protest, to encourage and so on. Visual pollution is one of the reason to make city look ugly and of course cause of accidents.

Well we often find people of Kathmandu complaining all about it and everyone has one place to blame it all, GOVERNMENT. Which means they want to blame themselves indirectly. The reason is, they are the reason for all this pollution and who doesn't know, its them who elected them to make the government.

SO UNTIL AND UNLESS PEOPLE OF KATHMANDU, REALIZE THAT THEY ARE THE GOD WHO MADE THE GOD (GOVERNMENT). NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WELL SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN, KATHMANDU IS ON THIRD POSITION RIGHT NOW, AND CONGRATULATION IN ADVANCE KATHMANDU YOU  SHALL BE ON THE TOP.  BRAVO!

                   HIP HIP HURRAY!

Kathmandu, Third most polluted city in the world

WELCOME TO THIRD MOST POLLUTED CITY IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE

  THE CITY OF DREAMS

                              KATHMANDU

MAN WEARING POLLUTION MASK

THE HOLY BAGMATI RIVER

BRAVO!
